About the Challenge

Where Faith Meets Funny

The Laff House Presents: Welcome to the Fellowship Challenge is a national Christian comedy competition created to discover, develop, and elevate gifted Christian comedians from across the United States.

More than a search for the funniest performer, the Challenge is a platform for comedians who believe they have been called to minister through laughter. It brings together faith, fellowship, church representation, professional judging, audience participation, and Christian  comedy, all while giving emerging and experienced Christian comedians an opportunity to share their gifts with a wider audience.

Our Mission

Our mission is to identify gifted Christian comedians and provide them with a meaningful pathway to greater exposure, professional development, live-performance opportunities, and lasting connections within the Christian comedy community.

We believe laughter is more than entertainment. Laughter can bring healing, restore joy, strengthen relationships, and open hearts. Welcome to the Fellowship Challenge gives comedians an opportunity to make people laugh without compromising their faith or Christian values.

The Search Is On

Christian comedians age 21 and older who are active members of a church are invited to submit an application and audition video.

After the application period closes, eligible applications and videos will be reviewed by Mr. Rod and Jacqueline “Shine Lite” Hoskie. Twelve applicants will be selected to move forward as official contestants.

All applicants will be notified by email within three weeks after the application deadline. Selected contestants will receive an official acceptance email containing the instructions, requirements, deadlines, and rules for the next phase of the competition.

Important: The $25 non-refundable registration fee allows an application to be reviewed, but payment does not automatically enter an applicant into the competition or guarantee selection. Only 12 applicants will be chosen as official contestants.

How the Competition Works

The 12 selected contestants will compete through comedy performances, professional judging, and verified audience voting.

Competition results will be based on:

  • 60% professional judges’ scores

  • 40% verified audience votes

Contestants will advance through the competition based on their combined results until four finalists remain.

More Than a Competition

Welcome to the Fellowship Challenge is designed to create opportunities that continue beyond the contest.

The four finalists will receive the opportunity to perform live as part of the official Welcome to the Fellowship Christian Comedy Show. Finalists may also be considered for future live touring opportunities.

The winner will receive the opportunity to perform a live one-person comedy show that will be professionally taped on a Laff Out Loud stage.

Touring and additional performance opportunities may be subject to scheduling, availability, production requirements, and written agreements.

Represent Your Church

Every contestant must be an active member of a church and will have the opportunity to represent their church and community throughout the Challenge.

Churches, family members, friends, and supporters will be invited to follow the competition, encourage their contestants, and participate in official audience voting.

This is not only about winning. It is about creating fellowship, building relationships, celebrating Christian creativity, and strengthening the community of comedians who use laughter for a greater purpose.

The Laff House Legacy

Founded by Mr. Rod, Philadelphia’s legendary Laff House has played an important role in comedy by providing performers, like Kevin Hart,  with opportunities to develop their talent and take the stage.

Under Mr. Rod’s vision and leadership, The Laff House is continuing that legacy by creating a new platform devoted to discovering and elevating Christian comedians from across the country.

Welcome to the Fellowship Challenge brings the experience and comedy heritage of The Laff House together with a fresh, faith-centered mission.

Meet the Host

Rob Minor — The Minister of Comedy™

Philadelphia native Rob Minor discovered his love for comedy at age 14. After winning first prize in a Philadelphia comedy competition, he realized his gift had the potential to become something special.

Featured by Renaissance Magazine as an up-and-coming comedian, Rob built an impressive career performing alongside some of entertainment’s most celebrated names. He has opened for Bernie Mac, James Brown, and D.L. Hughley, performed at the world-famous Apollo Theater, appeared on BET, and shared stages with comedians including Tommy Davidson, Tracy Morgan, Marcus D. Wiley, and Sommore.

After giving his life to God, Rob transitioned into Christian comedy and embraced a greater purpose for his gift. Known today as The Minister of Comedy™, he uses clean, faith-centered comedy to uplift audiences, spread joy, and bring people together through laughter.

As host of Welcome to the Fellowship Challenge, Rob brings years of comedy experience, an infectious personality, and a heart for encouraging the next generation of Christian comedians.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build a nationally recognized Christian comedy platform where gifted performers can be discovered, audiences can enjoy excellent clean entertainment, and churches and communities can come together through the power of laughter.

Faith has a voice. Purpose has a stage. And the search is on.
